Franco Montanari Civic Art Gallery

Explore the Franco Montanari Civic Modern Art Gallery, created in 1625 by painter Guglielmo Caccia in a former Ursuline Convent to provide refuge for his daughters Orsola and Francesca and guarantee continuity to his artistic workshop.

Named after ambassador Franco Montanari, who bequeathed his eclectic collection to the community, the gallery hosts renowned modern artists such as Guttuso, Morandi, Modigliani, Chagall and other illustrious 20th century painters. The collection also includes works of African art and a rich selection of Japanese art, including Kakemono, prints and paintings from the 17th century.
