From 12th September to 12th October 2025, get ready to immerse yourself in a unique artistic experience amidst the evocative hills of Basso Monferrato. Germinale – Monferrato Art Fest, the annual contemporary art festival curated by Francesca Canfora, will bring life to 22 towns through site-specific installations, sculptures, and exhibitions across 27 venues, featuring around 50 participating artists.

La Mercantile, the historic building in Castagnole Monferrato, will serve as the organizational hub of the festival.

In addition to the exhibitions, Germinale offers a rich program of collateral events:

• Artist residencies: Three emerging artists will have the opportunity to create site-specific works and interact with the local community.
• Talks, meetings, and walks: In-depth discussions and dialogues with artists and curators to unveil the secrets of the works and the project.

The second edition of Germinale is organized in partnership with Casa degli Alfieri, a cultural organization and theater center responsible for the entire performing arts program.

The festival will animate not only the opening days but also the various venues throughout the entire period, offering a wide range of experiences:

• The “Magnificent Machine”, or rather La Corriera dell’Arte, a traveling art bus that will guide visitors on tours through the festival’s exhibition sites (in collaboration with the BMA Ecomuseum)

• Poetic and experiential walks by Teatro Natura, blending theater with nature and landscapes in immersive, hybrid performances

• Theater shows, artistic encounters, and experiences featuring national artists exploring themes such as love for nature and visions of a future world

• A special program for families and young visitors, titled “Meravigliati” (“Be Amazed”)

• Final showcases from the artist residencies, including performances by contemporary dance artists from Italy and abroad

• A creative residency by the company selected through the “Terre Alt(r)e” call and award, a networked initiative linking several Piedmont-based festivals united by shared themes of nature, landscape, and collaborative organizational models.
