On Friday, December 5, the San Martino Cultural Group will present two interesting concerts in the splendid Baroque setting of the Church of San Martino, organized by the G. Verdi Civic Music Institute and the Musicians of Santa Pelagia.

The evening will begin at 8:30 p.m. with the Mandolin Ensemble, a brilliant concert featuring the mandolin students of Professor Amelia Saracco, accompanied by vocalist and pianist Anna Borin, pianist Nicole Ortolano, and professors Pasquale Ruotolo and Alberto Delle Piane. The program will range eclectically from Tchaikovsky's great classical repertoire to the contemporary influences of Remo Vinciguerra (Acqua Marina), Celso Machado (Marchinha de Carnaval), and Ed Sheeran (Perfect).

At 9:30 p.m., it will be the turn of the ‘Pietro Paniati’ Mandolin Club, conducted by Fabio Poggi, with L'incanto del mandolino (The Enchantment of the Mandolin). The program includes the theme written by Nicola Piovani for the film La vita è bella (Life is Beautiful), an irresistible medley of melodies from Disney animated films, followed by Dmitri Shostakovich's famous Waltz, Johannes Brahms's rousing Hungarian Rhapsody, and the intense Etude by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, the main melody from Nuovo Cinema Paradiso by Ennio Morricone, and a selection of Nino Rota's most famous pieces.
