On Sunday, June 21, Serralunga d’Alba Castle will become the centerpiece of a day dedicated to exploring the Middle Ages with the first edition of Serralunga Medievalis, an initiative organized by the Barolo & Castles Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Serralunga d’Alba, the Pro Loco, the Giostra delle Cento Torri, and the Accademia Scherma Alba.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will involve the castle and several areas of the village, featuring activities designed for families, history enthusiasts, and visitors seeking a unique experience in the Langhe hills.
Guided tours will be organized throughout the day, departing every 30 minutes. Each tour will conclude with a meeting with the apothecary, a central figure in medieval society. In the castle courtyard, there will be knights and an educational area curated by the Accademia Scherma Alba, featuring demonstrations on knightly equipment, combat techniques, and the differences between war, tournaments, and duels.
The event will be accompanied by a culinary offering curated by the villages of San Lorenzo, San Martino, Santa Barbara, Patin, and Tesor, while the wine service will be handled by the Pro Loco of Serralunga d’Alba with the support of local producers. An opportunity to combine historical reenactment with the promotion of the region’s finest products.
