The ancient Statute of the Municipality of Viarigi dating back to 1352 clearly shows that saffron was already being cultivated at that time; in fact, the precious spice was grown in a large part of the Monferrato area. This gave rise to the idea of re-cultivating saffron by recovering abandoned land previously planted with vines. Results were very encouraging right from the start, and we have recently added other crops to saffron, also extending the farm's surface area: in particular hazelnuts, which have been very popular in the area in recent years, and strawberries, to further differentiate us from the typical local farms.
