The Bric Bordone hazelnut farm was established in 2012 in the eponymous village of Villafranca d'Asti, on land formerly belonging to the Bordone ancestors. Soils rich in sandstone, fossils, limestone and clay, particularly suited to historical autochthonous crops. Old hazelnut groves dating back to ancient times have been recovered, and recently investments have been made to recover areas planted with chestnut trees. In 2018, the company opened a small processing laboratory to make sweets from old local recipes, without using any type of flour or yeast, just hazelnut paste. A tour of the company, including a tasting of the products in a miniature version in walk-in packages, will give you an insight into the area, its history, geology, farming production phases, the first agricultural mechanisation in the 1960s and processing.
