THE MOMBARCARO POTATO

Potatoes rich in starch, vitamin C and potassium. Not just any ordinary tuber, but the prized Mombarcaro potato with its characteristics that make it one of the most appreciated in all markets. It is as delicious and genuine as the places where it grows, the Alta Langa, amidst majestic hills and a wild and extraordinarily beautiful nature. The Mombarcaro potato has been cultivated since ancient times on these soils that form the impluvium of the upper part of the Belbo torrent: sandy, soft and fertile soils that rise to more than 800 metres, kissed by the 'marin', the wind that makes the clear air of the Langa perfume with saltiness, and by the sun that here, generous, gently touches every hillock and all the slopes. The air, the soil and the river have elected this corner of Piedmont as the ideal place for growing potatoes in all their varieties, including the purple version, with its load of antioxidants and beneficial properties for health and, above all, much praised by the most renowned chefs, thanks to its organoleptic characteristics and for its colour that livens up and enhances traditional dishes. A real treasure that today is also protected thanks to the creation of the Consortium for the valorisation and protection of the Alta Valle Belbo potato: a necessary commitment to guarantee the consumer a certified and traceable product of very high quality.
