Some are born with it and some become it: blond never goes out of fashion! They know it well at Villanova d'Asti where the hen houses are full of natural, but clucking, blondes. Bred since ancient times in the farmyards and intended for family consumption, Piedmontese blondes, also known as ""Villanova and delle Crivelle"" or ""nostraline"", have become famous for the high quality of their meat, their resistance to cold climates and their prolonged egg production. An ever-present component in rural families, to the extent that they were once brought as dowries and passed down from mother to daughter so that the birth of a new house corresponded with the creation of a new henhouse. Until today, these animals are mainly reared extensively, i.e. in the open and organically. Excellent meat, tasty eggs, they are also very beautiful to look at: you will be impressed by their proud, elegant and, above all, free-range gait. The hens have well-developed breasts and shoulders, a thick golden-blond plumage with a black tail for females and slightly bluish for males. This perfect colour combination is completed by a rather prominent yellow beak and deep red comb and wattles.
