Church of San Martino in Lignera

Places of worship
Near the road from Monesiglio to Saliceto stands the small Church of San Martino, with a Romanesque bell tower featuring exposed stone.

The large square apse is adorned with magnificent frescoes from the 15th century, likely the best-preserved cycle in the region: they depict scenes from the life of San Martino with great realism, including horses, knights, and a long procession of saints, Evangelists, and Doctors of the Church. They were commissioned by the lords of Saliceto, the Del Carretto family, whose coat of arms stands out in the center of the vault.

Come and discover a pictorial treasure of rare delicacy!
