For history enthusiasts, and as part of the exhibition in Bra entitled "Egypt: In the Footsteps of the Gods"… don’t miss the lecture entitled "Deir el-Medina: Daily Life in the Artisans’ Village".
The speaker for the evening will be Alessandro Girardi, curator of the Bra exhibition and also curator of the Research and Curatorial Department – Travelling Exhibitions at the Egyptian Museum.
The event takes place on Thursday 15 October at 8.45 pm at the Albergo Cantine Ascheri, 25 Via Piumati, Bra.
The talk will focus on the site of Deir el-Medina. During the Pharaonic era, it was home to a village inhabited by the craftsmen responsible for building and decorating the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. Through artefacts preserved in the Egyptian Museum’s collection and by retracing the explorations carried out by the Italian Archaeological Mission in the early 20th century, it will be possible to reconstruct some interesting aspects of the daily life of the inhabitants of Deir el-Medina.
The event is organised by the City of Bra in collaboration with the Egyptian Museum.
Free admission. Booking recommended by emailing promozione@comune.bra.cn.it
