- Alba
On Friday November, 13th at 6.00 pm in Alba, at the Palazzo Banca d’Alba, 4 Via Cavour, there will be a presentation of the fascinating book "Il Piemonte dei Tartufi nel 1776 e 250 anni dopo" (Piedmont’s Truffles in 1776 and 250 Years On). The event, organised by the Giulio Parusso Cultural Association, is free to attend. A journey through 250 years of traditions, history and knowledge linked to the Piedmontese truffle, beginning with this work published by Turin-based professor Giovanni Bernardo Vigo, which features the oldest known image of a "trifulao"(truffle hunter) searching for truffles in the company of his little dog. A group of experts has decided to revive Vigo’s Latin poem, comparing 18th-century knowledge with that of today. History, traditions, scientific research and culture intertwine, offering us an insight into the evolution of the relationship between man and the truffle. Paolo Tibaldi, an actor, will read an excerpt from Vigo’s work.
The book, whose publication was supported by the Fondazione Banca d’Alba, will be available during the presentation and in bookshops in Alba.
