Starting on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Mercato della Terra in Alba, in Piazza Pertinace, will become a meeting place for art, community, and sustainability thanks to “Scarti d'autore” (Designer Waste), a project conceived by UnTerritorio ETS
with the aim of promoting a new shared awareness of the value of food, focusing on food as a common good: not only nourishment, but also a social and cultural experience, a right for all and a tool
for connecting people and territories.
The initiative actively involves the producers of the Earth Market and the local community in a calendar of events from March to November 2026: art workshops, participatory performances, moments of
storytelling and in-depth exploration of art and science, accompanied by concrete awareness-raising tools such as anti-waste kits and a handbook for waste management.
All meetings will take place in the morning, starting at 10:00 a.m., and will include artistic and performance activities along with interviews with market producers held directly in Piazza
Pertinace, surrounded by the Earth Market.
All events are free and open to the public. No reservation is required.
In case of bad weather, the event will be held in the Spazio San Giovanni – Cloister of the Church of San Giovanni in Piazza Pertinace.
Saturday, March 21 – Paolo Tibaldi
“Abitare il piemontese” (Living in Piedmont)
The actor, famous for his column “Living in Piedmont,” will guide the audience on a journey through the words and traditions of rural culture, exploring the relationship between language, food, and memory. A moment of
reflection on food waste and the value of recycling, through oral storytelling and conviviality.
Saturday, April 18 – Compagnia Magog
“Tell me what you eat and I’ll tell you who you are”
The theatrical performance will offer food for thought on seasonality, supply chains, preservation, and locally sourced products, intertwining irony and awareness.
Saturday, May 16 – Giulia Marchiaro
Creative workshop for families and children: an artistic experience that starts with market products – fruit and vegetables, bread and honey, seeds and legumes – to experiment with signs, colors, and materials, transforming
food into an expressive tool
Saturday, June 20 – Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto: Demopractic forum with Armona Pistoletto and Paolo Naldini: a journey through projects and practices that intertwine nutrition, territories, and organizations, starting from the concept of demopraxia and the right to food.
Saturday, September 19 – Gabriele Vacis – Meditation on food: The theater director and playwright will lead the young actors of the PoEM theater company in a “Meditation on food,” a moment of reflection based on a reading of Karen Blixen's short story “Babette's Feast,” accompanied by Roberto Tarasco's scenophonies.
Saturday, November 21* – Andrea Segrè – On the occasion of European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), the professor of Circular Economy and Sustainable Development Policies at the University of Bologna will conclude the project with a lecture dedicated to food waste and strategies to combat it.
