Francesco Trussoni, master of stills in Gallo d'Alba. As early as 1885, he had the brilliant intuition to create Grappa di Barolo, the first single-varietal grappa in history. In 1922, the company passed under the leadership of Mario Montanaro and his wife Angela Trussoni who became, with their son Giuseppe, not only the refineers of the production processes, including the introduction of steam stills, but also the inheritors of a rigorous methodology that made use of the valuable experience and influences of the Alba Oenological School. Therefore, over a century, a sort of unrepeatable ""ecosystem"" has been created, where Montanaro distillates are the most sophisticated emblem of the qualities associated with a blessed area called the Langa, with its many historical and cultural aspects.
