In 1925, Levi Serafino, with his wife Teresina and two children Lidia and Romanno, chose to settle in Neive, the land of great wines, and founded his direct fire distillery here. In 1933, after Serafino's death, and then Teresina's in 1945, Romano Levi, who was then 17 years old, decided to stop studying and, with the help of his sister Lidia, they continued distilling. Today, the discontinuous copper alembic still is the only one in the world currently operating with direct fire for the distillation of grappa.
