A large parking area is located in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in the center of Montà (fountain and bars available), where the trail signage begins.
To hike the full loop, head down Via Cavour, walking under the porticoes and past Piazza San Michele. Here, you will find the Ecomuseo delle Rocche tourist office, where you can stop for information. Continue slightly uphill along Via Roma, which leads to the Bell Tower; while its current appearance dates back to the 18th century, it was originally built in 1257.
A very short detour behind the tower offers a beautiful panoramic view to the south toward the hills of the Alba region. Following the red and white "Sentiero del Lupo" signs (marked as path 416 or 401), head toward the former parish church, an impressive 17th-century building dominating the square. Just before the square, take the road to the left, passing the high wall of the Morra-Lavriano Castle (the castle can be glimpsed through the private gate slightly further on).
After passing the “Valle delle Rocche” Outdoor Center, the nature immersion part of the trail begins.
