- Asti
The4th weekend of September in the stretch of Corso Alfieri next to Torre Rossa - which in Roman times marked the entrance to the Decumanus Maximus - the clock turns back to the time before the discovery of America, when Asti was the undisputed capital of trade, as well as a thriving financial center. And so the village is transformed into a typical medieval market, a living framework in which the skills and passion of the master craftsmen are represented by blacksmiths, carpenters, but also experts in the processing of leather, jewelry, clothes and more. The food and wine sector is no exception! The flavors offered to visitors range from agnolotti, arrosticini, soups, friciula, cured meats, cheeses, porchetta, pancakes, farinata, olives accompanied by craft beer, wine and more, just as it was in the Middle Ages. And of course tomatoes, chocolate and all products that arrived in Europe after the discovery of America are banned!
Over the years ARTI E MERCANTI has become one of the most popular events in the Asti area, collecting more than 70,000 visitors.
