Eighty works for eighty years of freedom. This is the beating heart of the exhibition “Drawing Freedom: Art and Resistance,” a major cultural event organized by ISRAT in collaboration with the Giovanni Goria Foundation, the Vinchio House of Memory, and the Values Resistance and Constitution Committee of the Piedmont Regional Council, under the patronage of the Municipality of Asti.
The opening is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at 5 p.m., at the Goria Foundation headquarters, Piazza San Martino 11 in Asti.
An exciting journey through painting, sculpture and engraving, designed to celebrate the value of Liberation and keep historical memory alive through the universal language of art.
The exhibition will be open until the end of June, with free admission and the possibility of guided tours for schools. It is not only a cultural, but a deeply educational occasion, designed to involve citizens and students in a visual and symbolic journey between past and present, memory and current events.
Ideally closing the itinerary will be “The Rose of Damascus,” an installation previously exhibited at the Giardini dei Musei Reali in Turin and now housed in Asti. A work that speaks of peace, beauty and dialogue between cultures, through the image of a giant Damascene Rose, symbol of Syria and powerful metaphor of resistance and harmony.
