The Municipality of Bra has joined the “Giro d’Italia for Peace”, an initiative promoted by the Coordination of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights to mark the 40th anniversary of the association’s foundation, 800 years since the death of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of Italy, and coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Republic.
In the run-up to this event, a programme of activities has been organised on the themes of peace, solidarity, rights and harmonious coexistence, which fully incorporates the upcoming sessions of the “Toni Lucci” School of Peace: two important opportunities for reflection dedicated to the figure of St Francis and led by Fra Carlo Basile:
* Friday 10 April 2026, 8.45 pm in the Conference Hall of the Arpino Multipurpose Centre (Largo della Resistenza), the meeting “St Francis and Pietro di Bernardone. Generational Conflicts” will take place. A dialogue with Fra Carlo Basile to explore the conflictual relationship between the Saint and his father.
* Wednesday 29 April 2026, 8.45 pm, again at the Arpino Multipurpose Centre, the second event with Fra Carlo Basile, entitled “Making Peace. St Francis meets the Sultan of Egypt”.
