From 28 August to 27 September 2026, the Church of the Maddalena in Alba will host the exhibition “Non ti curar di loro. Sergio Ragalzi: archaeology of the possible” as part of the Profondo Umano festival, curated by Jacopo Di Marco, in collaboration with Lunetta11 and the Sergio Ragalzi Archive.
Sergio Ragalzi’s exhibition tackles the theme of care by turning the perspective on its head. Rather than offering comfort, his work unsettles, disturbs and challenges. Black dominates everything, leaving no room for the vitality of colour. In the artist’s work, everything revolves around humankind and its fears, its dramas, its tragedies and the dangers inherent in its very existence, both as individuals and as a species. The first step in ‘caring’ for someone or something is to choose to look in that direction, to turn one’s attention towards it. And Ragalzi, through his works—which serve as exorcisms of hidden fears—asks us precisely this: not to look the other way, but to look at something that is not yet, but could be, however difficult that may be. In short, to take care of ourselves before it is too late.
