The Holy Shroud, removed from Turin in 1706, was deposited in its rooms, Napoleon Bonaparte imposed the armistice of 1796 on the Piedmontese, and its rooms were chosen several times as the residence of the Savoy court.

Stories of a region that preserves the memory of its past and renews it, restoring prestigious buildings to transform them into containers of culture: today Palazzo Salmatoris is a valuable exhibition space where contemporary and modern art exhibitions are hosted, ranging from Picasso to De Chirico, from Chagall to Mirò and Magritte, Casorati, Carrà, to name but a few.
