On Tuesday, June 2, the city of Bra will also celebrate the 80th Italian Republic Day with an event organized at 10:30 a.m. in the City Council Chamber at City Hall, in collaboration with the “Toni Lucci” School of Peace and the Bra branch of the ANPI, titled “What Kind of Democracy: Eighty Years of Voting and Women.” The guest of honor will be anthropologist Eleonora Pinzuti.
In the afternoon, at 4:00 p.m., the program continues with the dedication of the green space near the former Santo Spirito Hospital, at the corner of Viale Madonna Fiori and Via E. Brizio, to Malvina Garrone Ronchi della Rocca, a famous partisan courier originally from Bra. At 5 p.m., the traditional public ceremony will take place in Piazza Caduti per la Libertà, featuring official remarks by the authorities. Musical performances by students from the G. Gandino Civic Music Institute of Bra are scheduled. In case of rain, the commemoration will be held in the City Council Chamber.
The official celebrations conclude on Wednesday, June 3, at 6:45 p.m. with a talk by Prof. Carlo Greppi titled “Born of the Resistance: The Origins of the Constitution,” scheduled to take place in the City Council Chamber. Greppi is a historian and researcher at the University of Turin. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Ferruccio Parri National Institute and founder of the Deina Association.
