57th edition of the Palio (Donkeys Race) in the ancient village of Cocconato .
Here is the program:
Saturday, Septembemr 26th, the eve of the event: at 7pm, the historical procession of nobles and the Captain of the Palio will lead the audience to the Cortile del Collegio for the grand medieval banquet, featuring entertainment by jugglers and musicians.
At 8pm, a Medieval dinner (reservations at the Tabaccheria in Piazza Cavour) or via email:amministrativo@cocconato.info;
At the Consorzio Cocconato Riviera del Monferrato, a wine tasting (3 wines with food pairings for €10); reservations can be made at:amministrativo@cocconato.info;
On Sunday, September 27th, starting at 2pm., the 57th edition of the Palio degli Asini. Following the historical parade through the streets of the town center, the race will begin at 4pm., running between Piazza Melchiorre and Piazza Cavour.
Seven villages will compete for the banners: Airali, Brina, Colline Magre, Moransengo, San Carlo, Torre, and Tuffo.
