From 14 November to 20 December, from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm, the historic centre of Asti will host the Christmas Market in Piazza Alfieri.
The Asti Christmas Market will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays in November (starting on Saturday 14 November); in December, it will be open from Thursday to Sunday until 20 December. Special opening: 13 November from 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm (opening ceremony)
Among the new features of this year’s event is Santa’s Elves’ Village, ready to engage children and families with games and entertainment. Completing the scene will be the new illuminations, which, as night falls, will make the square even more enchanting.
The first event is scheduled for Friday 13 November, from 6.30 pm, in Piazza San Secondo, where Father Christmas and his elven entourage, together with flag-wavers and stilt-walkers, will open the event with the musical performance ‘Mille Voci per Natale’. The project, promoted by the Fondazione Generazione ETS in collaboration with Asti City Council, will feature over 600 children from the city’s schools coming together in a large choir to perform two Christmas songs, led by Elena Di Giorgio from the Arca Sonora Voice Art Academy in Turin. The initiative will symbolically kick off the celebrations by involving the youngest members of the community in a moment of music and collective participation that places the community and the value of being together at the centre.
The programme continues on Monday 7 December with a free musical event in Piazza San Secondo.
In the late afternoon, the Sunshine Gospel Choir will take the audience on a journey through gospel music and the festive spirit. The choir, which in 2024 won the title of Europe’s best gospel choir at the American ‘How Sweet The Sound’ competition, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, will bring energy, emotion and magnificent voices to the square, offering residents and visitors the chance to share a moment of celebration through the universal language of music.
