In Albugnano, at the Rectory of Santa Maria di Vezzolano, initiatives continue as part of the project “Luce Luna Sole nel Romanico di Collina per un turismo culturale” (Moonlight and Sunlight in the Romanesque Hills for Cultural Tourism). Weather permitting, on December 5 and 6, 2025, it will be possible to observe the moonlight entering through the apse window of the church and reaching the entrance door, coinciding with the axis of the main nave. Previous astronomical observations in December 2024 in Vezzolano have shown that the church is oriented along the direction of the moonrise at the Upper Extreme Lunistizio. This phenomenon occurs every 18.6 years, and we must not forget the connection between the figure of Mary, to whom the building is dedicated, and the Moon.
Here is the program:
December 5 - from 5 p.m. - Observation reserved for the promoting bodies, members of the InCollina Association and their families, and RRC volunteers (by reservation only, subject to availability)
December 6 - from 6:10 p.m. - Observation open to the public (by reservation only, subject to availability)
