Val Sarmassa Nature Reserve

Enchanted woods, lush nature and stories of heroes: a park and its infinite charms.

The writer Davide Lajolo, who was born and lived in these hills, called the Val Sarmassa "my green sea" and he was not wrong. The Nature Reserve that stretches across the southern part of the Province of Asti between the municipalities of Vinchio, Vaglio Serra and Incisa Scappacino is a genuine expanse of an enchanting landscape that climbs and descends in a series of woods, vineyards and meadows that seem to disappear into the horizon. In a time long gone by, the sea was there. The fossils that come to light here and there bear witness to this. Now there are these gentle slopes in which you can immerse yourself and be enticed by every little naturalistic detail and go in search of historical and literary evidence inspired by Lajolo's stories, which offer a unique, original and engrossing insight into the area.
