Trail 3
Slightly more demanding, either because of its length or because of the long, steep sections both uphill and downhill, this loop is recommended for those who are not easily deterred by difficulties.
We are in Prunetto, the village of stone houses overlooked by the splendid medieval castle of the Marchesi Del Caretto family, where you can take a break to recharge your batteries and admire all the hillocks and ridges you have reached during your long walk in the Langa wilderness. Are you ready for a tour of beauty? Ready to be thrilled by the colours and landscapes of these high hills? Then all you have to do is park in the village and embark on this evocative journey.
Please make sure to take enough water with you because you will not find any water sources to refresh yourself along this trail. Leave Prunetto along the SP 53 road until you reach the junction leading to Località Poggio. Turn right onto the narrow asphalt road (strada Borgata Poggio).
As you enjoy the view of the Bormida Valley, continue to the right on the gradually narrower road, which then becomes a dirt track surrounded by dense vegetation. At times you will find the ground a little uneven, but the nature around you will repay your efforts. As you continue downhill, you will come close to Borgata Pianezzo, but your walk continues into the woods. When you reach a large abandoned farmhouse, you will find the small asphalt road again, and a long uphill stretch starts here. Amidst ups and downs and views to be thoroughly enjoyed, you will reach Borgata Carro and immediately afterwards Frazione Serra. A few hundred metres more and you will be back in Prunetto.
