Trail 1
If you are looking for a place to escape the summer heat, or want to enjoy all the shades of the autumn foliage, or are simply looking for a quiet place to let your thoughts wander, then you are in the right place.
This loop trail, that you can decide whether to tackle in its entirety (7.3 km) or in its shortened version (6.3 km), promises a fresh, stimulating and regenerating walk amidst the splendid and pristine nature of Alta Langa. Park in Prunetto, in the village, and walk along Via Roma Vecchia for a short distance and, keeping to the right, continue along the narrow asphalt road that heads into nature, giving you extensive panoramic views of the Bormida and Belbo Valleys.
A bend and a small bridge mark the start of a dirt road that climbs up over 700 metres through lush vegetation: woods, meadows and fields will be your setting as you walk by. As soon as the dirt road ends, you have two options: turn right to stay on the short trail or left to continue on the slightly longer trail (about an extra kilometre). If you choose the short trail, you will soon find the first suburban farms of Prunetto and begin a slight descent until you reach the village centre. The longer trail will climb a little further to an altitude of 850 metres and only after reaching Località La Colma, on the ridge, will you slowly descend towards the departure point.
At the end of the tour, a stop at the Castle, with its scenic park and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Carmine, is a must.
