Tour of the Five Towers – Stage 2: San Giorgio Scarampi - Olmo Gentile

Once you have taken a look at the beautiful quadrangular stone tower you pass through the village of San Giorgio Scarampi, consisting of a few stone houses and two churches, and descend on the opposite side with the lovely view, to your right, of the Perletto tower, facing the Olmo Gentile tower.

On the way down you will reach a rest area equipped with a canopy, nearby a beautiful little Baroque church all made of local stone (including the roof).

You continue along a stretch of the provincial road towards Roccaverano, then you leave it to climb along a ridge to the right and then you go on until you come back onto the provincial road which you cross and then continue along the forest road to your left. The route, which runs through chestnut woods, is often muddy and leads to a short stretch across the meadows. Once past the stretch, the route climbs up again to the ridge where there is an aqueduct depot.

As you continue along the ridge you will reach a gravel road overlooking Olmo Gentile to the right and Roccaverano to the left, you follow it until you reach the summit where there is a large cross built in memory of the victims of 9/11. Once past the cross, you descend along the provincial road, turn right and follow it downhill for about a hundred metres, then turn left (near a horse-riding trail sign) onto a grassy road.

The small road becomes a path that runs through a field, then becomes a mule track that leads downhill to an aqueduct depot. Next, the route continues along the asphalted road to reach a small stone church and here it joins the provincial road that leads to Olmo Gentile.
