Rocca Creusa Trail
The Rocca Creusa Trail runs along the most scenographic amphitheatric Rocche. Here vegetation hides the cave where, the legend says, a hermit lived. The trail twists into a wood sloping down into Moreis hamlet valley floor and then ascends again toward Pocapaglia village coming across votive pillars and tiny country churches.
The trail starts from piazza Principessa Maria Pia. Along the path hikers can admire a spectacular view over the Rocche, showing off their breath-taking uprightness. Walking along the ridge of one of the Rocche, hikers can see the Rocca dell’Eremita (literally the hermit’s cliff, named after the hermit who lived there between the two World Wars) amphitheatre, on the right. Remembered in one of Giovanni Arpino’s short stories, the Pocapaglia hermit was an uncommon intriguing character of local history.
The trail goes on offering a view on Bra, and then becomes narrower before entering a mixed wood, among oaks and walnut trees. Then the path runs across Pocapaglia houses and ends back in piazza Principessa Maria Pia.
