
Path 2 - Monforte d'Alba
Walking through the charming streets of the historic village centre of Monforte, decorated with climbing roses, you come to the upper part of the village from which you can enjoy stunning views across the plains and up to the Alpine chain. From here you descend down a steep road that turns into a dirt track, until you come to the Talloria stream. You then ascend along a dirt track through the vineyards until you arrive at the hamlet of Collarretto. Continue along the cement road from here, enjoying views of the castle until you reach Serralunga d’Alba, from where you can admire the view over the first hills of the Alta Langa.
Serralunga d’Alba- Castiglione Falletto
Go down the asphalt road until your reach the hamlet of I Vei, then continue along a dirt track through the vineyards until you reach the valley floor. Turn right here and continue along the asphalt road for round 1 km and then turn left onto the steep path and continue up to Castiglione Falletto.
Castiglione Falletto – Monforte d’Alba
Continue along the country road enjoying 360° views over the surrounding landscape. The road descends gently down to Bussia Soprana, where you will turn left onto a dirt track descends through the vineyards and woods to arrive at a stream near a spring. After this, go up the dirt track into the woods. The track levels off and then turns into a very steep path, which will bring you near to the cemeterial chapel of Santo Stefano, dating back to the 12th century. After around 500 metres you will reach Perno with its fortified residence.
Continuing along the dirt track (with several stretches of asphalt), running along top of the hill, you will arrive in Monforte near the swimming pool and after several hundred metres you will come to Villa Beccaris, a historic residence that now houses a hotel.
