Cuckoo Trail
A characteristic feature of a trek in Alta Langa is undoubtedly tranquillity: peaceful places where the sounds of every single inhabitant of the woods can be identified. One such place is Arguello, which, not by chance, is known as the "cuckoo village". Here, in fact, between April and July, these little birds known for their unmistakable song and extraordinary opportunism come swooping in.
Would you like to learn more? Then you just have to choose the nature trail marked as the Cuckoo Trail. The trail starts from Via Cantabusso in the hamlet of Tre Cunei where you will find the first signpost indicating the beginning of the path. Hazel groves and woods alternate as you pass by and, at times, as you travel along the ridge, the view unfolds giving you all the beauty of the Belbo Valley. Once past the houses of the hamlet of Bricco, turn right to walk through a wooded stretch that ends near Arguello right next to the beautiful parish church of Santi Angeli Custodi. You are also greeted by a giant bench and a fountain for a very scenic refreshing break.
Cross the village, a short stretch of dirt road and you are on the asphalt road, which you leave shortly afterwards to head into the woods. On the opposite side of the Belbo Valley, you will be accompanied by the silhouette of Cravanzana, standing out with its castle. One more tree-lined stretch, wide meadows, but soon the dirt road begins to climb, taking you to a large abandoned farmstead. Continue to the left, and after a few wide bends and about 400 metres uphill you will reach SP 32 to return to the starting point.
