The Battle Path
This short trail winds its way through the old town of Ceresole d'Alba and retraces the various stages of the 1544 Battle of Ceresole, which was part of the last period of the “Italian Wars”, which took place in the 16th century. It is the last clash between two great rulers: Francis I, King of France, and Charles V, Emperor of the Holy Roman German Empire. The ultimate goal is supremacy in Europe by controlling Italy.
Starting from Piazza Vittorio Veneto, you can discover, thanks to permanent installations, the various stages of the battle, ranging from the field forces to the alignments, from the background to the actual clash.
Finally, a stop at the MuBatt - Museo della Battaglia (Battle Museum) is a must: in the halls of the exhibition space, you can embark on a journey to explore the battle, while discovering the testimonies and historical relics that have been preciously preserved over the centuries.
