Bric & Bike Trail
One moment you are in a fast-paced city and the next, after just a few kilometres, you are immersed in splendid rural settings: this is one of the peculiarities of Langhe Monferrato Roero. So, having left Asti and travelled less than ten kilometres in a south-westerly direction, you come to Celle Enomondo: a village whose name embodies the essence of its landscape. You got it right. Enos in Greek is wine and mundus in Latin is "pure, genuine", meaning a village with a great winemaking tradition, as you will discover if you choose to follow this loop trail, which is about 18 km long and of medium/low difficulty although 60 per cent of the route is on a dirt road.
The trail starts on the small square in the centre of the village, where you will also find an E-bike charging station, a public water house and a bar. Once you are fully energized, get on the road and after a short stretch of asphalt, get onto Strada Fronte, which descends to the Borbore Valley, which welcomes you with its patchwork of meadows and crops. Once past the hamlet of Merlazza, after a long flat stretch, you reach the unpaved and very scenic uphill road that joins the SP 13a road to Antignano. A few metres of asphalt road and, at the Cappella del Rosario chapel, you turn left and head back towards Celle.
If you feel like continuing and completing the loop, go through the residential area, reach Strada Morandino and, surrounded by an unreal sense of tranquillity, at the end of the dirt road turn left towards the Revigliasco cemetery along SP 13, which you will leave at the Chapel of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie for a last stretch of dirt road entirely surrounded by nature. At the junction with the road to Vaglierano, turn left and you will be on your way back. As well as offering a pleasant immersion in the Asti area countryside, this trail is marked by a series of votive pillars and small country churches where you will find signs conceived to explain to visitors the origin of that unique place of religious meditation.
