The Sacred Hills Walk – Leg 5

Starting from the square near to the castle, walk through the centre of the beautiful town of Viale and on to the hamlet of San Rocco and the next hamlet of Case Gianuzzi. Continue, approaching the Cascina Montalone and follow the road for about 1 km down to the road junction.

Go past the road junction and turn left towards the Cascina Vadonia, continuing in a northerly direction, reaching the Cascina Ingazzo after less than 900 m, in the administrative area of Piea.

Continue for about 600 m and cross the road, beginning to climb up to the Cascina San Secondo. Carry on for a few hundred metres to the hilly summit, then turn left, following along a gentle slope to the village of La Madonna.

Take the road on the left, in a south-westerly direction, and continue for a little more than 800m before turning right, to start climbing towards the village, which is near the castle after about 500 metres.
