The Sacred Hills Walk – Leg 1

This leg departs from the Abbey of Vezzolano, a religious Romanesque monument of national architectural importance. There are here also stopping points of the hiking “Superga-Vezzolano-Crea” and the “Chivasso-Vezzolano Trail”.  Not far from here it’s possible to visit the Romanesque church of San Pietro, located in the old cementery, and the Belvedere point of Albugnano, a fantastic balcony where its possible to admire all Monferrato.

The route starts in a southerly direction, running along by the village of Pogliano and further ahead the village of Mistrassi and then Bardella. Near the Cascina Lombardore, in the administrative area of Castelnuovo Don Bosco, there is the Romanesque church of Santa Maria di Cornareto.  

Going further still towards the south, it crosses the villages of Freis and Nestra to finally reach the point near to the Romanesque church of Sant'Eusebio.
