The Fondazione Ferrero exhibitions

A 70-year-long love that binds the Ferrero family to the city of Alba. An enduring love that goes far beyond the entrepreneurial skills of Pietro Ferrero, who was the first to open a pastry shop in Via Maestra and who immediately understood the great potential of one of the most important products of his land: the Langhe round and gentle hazelnut.

Pietro, who did not see the growth of the empire for which he had laid the foundations in the 1940s, died early, at only 51 years of age, and the company was carried on and run by his brother, his wife Piera and their son Michele. Hard work, determination, far-sightedness and a project shared by all employees on a business model that never saw top management and employees in opposition, but was a whole, a team, an extended family that shared the results, and achievements did not take long to arrive. The products, first and foremost Nutella, are now everywhere in the world and there is no generation that does not cherish a Ferrero moment in their heart.

Production plants in various continents, products that are undisputed market leaders, a worldwide reputation, acquisitions and a lot of research: none of this undermines the bond with the city of Alba where, back in 1983, Michele established the Fondazione Ferrero (Ferrero Foundation). By honouring the “Work, Create, Donate” guiding principles, it has since then been active in areas such as culture, health, social work and with a keen eye on the young and the elderly.

Like all Ferrero initiatives, the Foundation was bound to speak to the world, especially when thinking about art, and this is why, every two years in autumn, the elegant headquarters in Via Vivaro, a place for meeting, aggregation and research, has been hosting a regular exhibition activity since 1998. The first exhibition was a fitting tribute to the Langa hills, but soon came a series of major and internationally renowned exhibitions, hosting works by De Chirico, Magritte, Dalì, Giacomo Balla, Felice Casorati, Carlo Carrà and Giorgio Morandi, to name but a few.
